When going on a long trip like this, your backpack will arguably be the most important piece of equipment you buy. With this in mind, its extremely important that you don’t cut any corners, and that you pick suits you 100%.
Travel blogs like this one can be a great way to keep you friends and family updated about your travels. Don’t be put off by the techy side of things, there are a number of services available that make setting up a blog extremely simple.
I’ve been thinking about this for the past few days, and I have done a bit of research. I think taking a mobile phone will be a good idea as it provides that extra piece of mind incase of emergency, and will probably keep our parents happier.
Looking for information about this topic was harder than I expected, and I’m a bit on the fence about what to do.
When I’m away, I plan on taking a lot of photos, and I mean a lot! I will only be stopped by a bursting memory card or a dwindling battery. This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I want to make sure that nothing is forgotten.

On the 8th of February 2011 we are boarding an 11 hour and 40 minute flight to Rio De Janeiro in Brazil. This will be the start of an amazing journey, taking us thousands of miles through South America, ending in Santiago, Chile, and then continuing on to New Zealand and Australia.
